Remote Open

Remote Open

Remote open glass barrier plugs are advanced downhole tools run as part of the completion string that combine glass-based sealing elements with pressure-activated valve systems to provide temporary, high-integrity wellbore isolation.

These plugs are designed to be opened remotely from the surface using controlled pressure cycles, eliminating the need for mechanical intervention.

Each plug in the Remote Open range is designed to enable full bore access post-opening, making them ideal for intervention-free completions and a wide range of well applications.

Key design elements

1. Mechanical Counter

  • Mechanism: A well-specific pressure-cycled system that counts surface-applied pressure pulses.
  • Features: Simple, robust, and reliable for standard well environments.

2. Balanced Counter

  • Mechanism: A system that counts pressure cycles independently of hydrostatic pressure.
  • Features: Isolated from wellbore fluids via a debris exclusion membrane – inert to temperature, depth, and fluid weight.

3. E-trigger Counter

  • Mechanism: A programmable electronic device activated by a pressure key and optional timer.
  • Features: Recognizes pressure sequences and time corridors – can be reset if activation fails.
