Pump Open

Pump open barrier plugs are specialized downhole tools used in oil and gas well operations, particularly during well completion and temporary well suspension. These plugs act as temporary barriers that isolate sections of the wellbore, enabling safe and controlled operations above the plug.

The plug is run into the well on a work string or tubing and set at the desired depth. It maintains pressure from below, functioning as a mechanical seal. When operations are complete, a predetermined surface pressure is applied, which activates an internal mechanism that opens the plug, allowing full bore access
